He leads me beside the Waters & Restores my Soul

In her new book called Strong Like Water, Aundi Kolber writes, “… if we spend our lives trying to be “the strong one,” we become exhausted, burned-out, and disconnected from our truest selves.” Kolber’s words resonated with me. As someone who has always felt the pressure to be strong and self-sufficient, I can attest to the toll it can take on a person. It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that vulnerability and asking for help are signs of weakness. Still, they are essential components of a healthy, fulfilling life by embracing our true selves and acknowledging our limitations. It’s a lesson I’m still learning, but I’m grateful to be reminded of it.

Kolber points to an alternative way to be strong where strength could be reimagined and redirected to a healthier version that doesn’t mean being alone and exhausted. She concludes, “What if true strength was more like the tide: soft and bold, fierce and gentle, moving together as one powerful force?”

Her first book, Try Softer, was a beautiful approach to move us out of anxiety, stress, and survival mode and into a life of connection and joy. Strong Like Water offers readers hope, encouragement, and guidance toward connecting with their inner selves.
